Why do my prayers feel unanswered?
By Matthew (Tolu) Olowoyeye
ScriptureLuke 18:1
First, God answers every prayer — but not always with “yes,” and not always on our timetable. Sometimes the answer is “no” because He sees what we cannot; sometimes it is “not yet” because the timing matters; sometimes it is “grow” because He is more interested in changing us than our circumstances. A loving parent does not grant every request, and we are grateful later that they didn't. Scripture also names things that hinder prayer: unconfessed sin, broken relationships, doubting God's goodness, or asking purely for selfish ends. It is worth honestly asking the Lord to search your heart. But often the silence is simply the test of faith that deepens trust. Keep praying. Persistence in prayer is not nagging a reluctant God; it is the means by which He grows our dependence and prepares us to receive. Scripture: — “Men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” Take this step: Keep a simple prayer journal: date your requests on one side, and record answers as they come on the other. Over months you will see how many “silences” were really God working unseen.
Prayer
Father, thank You for meeting me in my questions. Give me wisdom to understand Your truth, faith to trust You where I cannot yet see, and grace to walk it out today. Anchor my heart in Luke 18:1. In Jesus' name, amen.
