How do I deal with loneliness as a Christian?
By Matthew (Tolu) Olowoyeye
ScripturePsalm 68:6
Loneliness is part of the human ache in a fallen world, and even devoted believers feel it. It is not a verdict on your worth. Sometimes it is a season; sometimes it is God Himself drawing you to a depth of fellowship with Him that crowds could never give. Bring the ache to God first — He promises His presence and calls Himself a Father to the lonely. But He also designed the remedy to be relational: the church is meant to be family. Loneliness often eases not when we wait to be pursued, but when we take the risk to pursue others. Move toward people in small, consistent ways. Loneliness shrinks in the soil of service; when you give yourself to meeting others' needs, connection tends to grow as a by-product. Scripture: — “God setteth the solitary in families.” Take this step: This week, take one small initiative: invite someone for coffee, join a small group, or serve somewhere regularly. Consistency, more than intensity, is what builds belonging.
Prayer
Father, thank You for meeting me in my questions. Give me wisdom to understand Your truth, faith to trust You where I cannot yet see, and grace to walk it out today. Anchor my heart in Psalm 68:6. In Jesus' name, amen.
