We tend to imagine spiritual growth as a series of dramatic moments. But Scripture more often describes it as a slow, steady walk, one foot in front of the other, day after day. calls us to keep the Book of the Law always on our lips, meditating on it day and night.
The discipline of daily reading is unglamorous. Some mornings the words feel alive; other mornings they feel like stone. Yet the faithful return to the text, again and again, is itself a form of worship. As reminds us, the word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.
Do not despise the small beginning. A chapter a day, read slowly and prayerfully, will form you over years in ways a single weekend retreat never could. Consider , we do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.
