You Are Worth More Than a Moment

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Attention is not the same as value. Being wanted is not the same as being worth something. And the day you stop letting other people's interest decide your worth is the day you finally become free.

There is a lie that gets louder the older you get, and it goes like this: your worth depends on being wanted. On the attention, the likes, the interest of other people. And so you start doing the maths, if enough people want me, I must be valuable; if they lose interest, I must not be. It is exhausting, and it is completely upside down.

Paul writes something to a young church that cuts straight through it: "your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit... you were bought at a price" (). Read that slowly. You are not a thing to be handed around for whoever gives you attention. You are not on sale. You are a temple, sacred, valuable, worth honouring. And your price was already set, not by who wants you this week, but by what God was willing to give for you. That price does not go up when you are noticed or down when you are ignored. It is fixed.

Real talk: Someone wanting you in a moment is not the same as someone valuing you for a lifetime. Attention is cheap. Real worth is settled long before anyone shows up.

This changes how you carry yourself. When you know your worth is already decided by God, you stop trading it for scraps of attention that never actually fill you. You can hold boundaries without apologising for them. You can wait for something real instead of grabbing something now. You can say no to what cheapens you, because you finally understand you are not cheap. Honouring God with your whole self, including your body, is not God trying to spoil your fun. It is God protecting something valuable: you.

You were bought at a price. That means somebody already decided you were worth everything. Do not let a moment convince you that you are worth less.

Try this this week: Settle it in advance, your worth is decided by God, not by who wants you. Then make one choice that honours that, even when it is not the easy one.

Pray this: God, thank You that You already decided I am worth everything. Help me stop chasing attention to feel valuable. Teach me to honour You with my whole self, because I finally know what I am worth. Amen.
