Hebrews 13:5
You can be in a full group chat, surrounded by people, and still feel completely alone. Everybody feels it. Nobody posts it. And there is one Person who promised He would never add to the empty seats.
Loneliness is one of the strangest feelings, because it does not need you to actually be alone. You can be in a packed room, in a busy group chat, at a table full of people, and still feel like nobody really sees you. And because everyone around you looks like they belong, you assume you are the only one feeling it. You are not. Loneliness is one of the most common feelings on earth. It is just the one nobody photographs.
Here is a promise worth holding onto. God says, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (). Never. Not on the days you feel left out, not on the nights the messages go quiet, not when a friendship ends or a group moves on without you. There is one presence in your life that does not depend on being invited, does not get bored of you, and does not walk away. You are, in the deepest sense, never actually alone.
Real talk: The people who look the most included online are often the ones feeling exactly what you feel. Everyone is fighting a loneliness they have learned to hide.
But there is something else, and it is the part that changes things. A lot of loneliness lifts not when you finally get included, but when you stop waiting to be included and start being the friend you have been hoping someone would be to you. Look around. There is almost always someone else on the edge of the room, feeling exactly what you feel. The fastest way out of your own loneliness is often to notice theirs.
You are seen by God completely, and you have the power to make someone else feel seen too. Both of those are true tonight.
Try this this week: Reach out first to one person who might be feeling on the outside, a message, a seat saved, a real conversation. Be the friend you have been waiting for.
Pray this: God, thank You that You never leave me, even when I feel completely alone. Help me feel Your presence, and open my eyes to someone else who needs a friend this week. Amen.
If loneliness has felt heavy for a long time, please talk to a parent, a trusted adult, or your GP. You were never meant to carry it by yourself.
