Colossians 3:23
Nobody claps for the homework, the chores, the practice nobody sees. But there is no such thing as unseen effort. God is not grading your applause. He is grading the way you do the boring stuff.
Most of your life right now is made of things nobody applauds. Homework. Chores. Practice. Revision. The small, repetitive, unglamorous tasks that no one posts about and no one hands out medals for. It is tempting to think those things do not really matter, that real life, the stuff that counts, is somewhere else, in the moments people actually see. The Bible says the exact opposite.
Paul writes: "whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men" (). Whatever you do, not just the visible things, the impressive things, the applauded things. Whatever. The maths homework counts. The way you do your chores counts. The effort you put in when literally no one is watching counts, because Someone always is. And the difference between doing something for people and doing it for God is enormous: people can only reward what they see, but God rewards what is real.
Real talk: Talent gets noticed. Character gets built in the boring stuff nobody claps for. The person you are becoming is decided far more by the unseen effort than by the highlight moments.
This flips your whole week. That task you were going to rush through and half-do because nobody would know? God would know, and more importantly, you are not actually building anything by cutting corners. Every time you do the unseen thing well, "as to the Lord," you are quietly forging discipline, integrity and excellence into yourself. Those do not show up on a single day. They show up across a whole life.
You do not have to wait for a big, visible stage to start living for God. You can worship Him in your maths homework. Do the small stuff like He is watching. He is, and He is not grading the applause. He is grading the heart you brought to the boring thing.
Try this this week: Pick one ordinary task you would normally rush or dodge, and do it fully and well as if you were doing it directly for God. Notice what it does to you.
Pray this: God, help me do even the boring, unseen things heartily, as for You. Build discipline and character in me through the small stuff nobody claps for. I want to honour You in what no one else sees. Amen.
