For the Next Generation
All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children
By Matthew (Tolu) Olowoyeye
Father, we stand in the gap today for the next generation, our children, our teenagers, our young adults, and all the young lives You are entrusting to this generation of parents, teachers and leaders. We thank You for them. We refuse to hand them over to fear or to the spirit of this age. We claim Your promise that our children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace.
We pray for their protection, over their minds in a world of constant noise and pressure, over their hearts against comparison, anxiety and despair, and over their bodies in every place they go. Guard them from harm, from the wrong influences, and from the lies the culture is whispering to them about who they are and what they are worth.
We pray that they would come to know You early and know You truly, not a second-hand faith borrowed from us, but a living faith of their own. Let them encounter You for themselves. Give them a clear sense of purpose, a resilience that carries them through hard seasons, and a boldness to stand for what is right when it costs them something.
Raise up from among them a generation who will love You, serve their world, and carry Your name further than we ever could. The future is not too dark for them, because You go before them. Amen.
We agree together for the next generation, in the name of Jesus.
