For the Nation
I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers... be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority
By Matthew (Tolu) Olowoyeye
Father, we lift our nation before You today. We thank You for this land, for its people, and for every good thing You have poured into it. We pray for all those in positions of authority, in government, in local leadership, in the courts, in every place where decisions are made that shape ordinary lives. Grant them wisdom beyond their own, integrity in the unseen places, and a genuine concern for the good of the people they serve.
We pray for righteousness to rise in this nation, for justice to run down like water, and for mercy to be shown to the vulnerable and the forgotten. Where there is division, sow understanding. Where there is corruption, bring it to light and bring it to an end. Where fear and unrest have taken hold, let Your peace settle over homes and streets and hearts.
Lord, we ask that this would be a land where Your name is honoured and Your ways are welcomed again. Turn the hearts of the people back to You. Raise up men and women of conviction and compassion in every sphere of influence. And let us, Your people, be salt and light in the middle of it all.
We pray this not out of despair for our nation, but out of hope in our God. Amen.
We agree together for our nation, in the name of Jesus.
