How do I handle peer pressure and stand out as a Christian?
By Matthew (Tolu) Olowoyeye
ScriptureRomans 12:2
Settle your identity before you face the pressure. The reason peer pressure overwhelms us is that we are looking to people for an approval we already have in Christ. When you know you are deeply loved and accepted by God, the power of the crowd to define you begins to break. Decide your convictions in advance, in calm moments, not in the heat of a tempting one. Daniel “purposed in his heart” before he was ever tested. People who decide beforehand stand; people who improvise fall. And you do not have to stand alone. Find even one or two friends who share your faith and values — a single ally changes everything. You may also be surprised how often quiet, consistent integrity earns respect rather than ridicule. Scripture: — “Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Take this step: Write down two or three lines you will not cross, before you are pressured. Then find one like-minded friend to stand with you.
Prayer
Father, thank You for meeting me in my questions. Give me wisdom to understand Your truth, faith to trust You where I cannot yet see, and grace to walk it out today. Anchor my heart in Romans 12:2. In Jesus' name, amen.
