How do I pray for revival?

Praying for revival begins with a deep, personal hunger for God's presence and a fresh outpouring of His Spirit in your own life and in the lives of those around you. It's about acknowledging our spiritual dryness and the world's deep need for supernatural intervention. Start by confessing your own sins and the sins of your community, asking God to purify hearts and prepare us to receive His grace. This genuine brokenness is often the first step toward experiencing a true spiritual awakening, as seen throughout biblical history where repentance preceded renewal.

Next, pray specifically for God to awaken His people within the church. Ask Him to stir up a passion for His Word, for sincere worship, and for authentic fellowship. Pray for leaders to be filled with wisdom, humility, and boldness, and for congregants to be united in purpose and love. Revival often sparks from within the church, as believers are re-ignited with their first love for Christ, leading to a vibrant witness that spills over into the broader society and draws others to Him.

Extend your prayers to the lost and unchurched, asking God to open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel. Pray for divine appointments, for opportunities to share your faith, and for obstacles to understanding to be removed. Revival isn't just about renewing believers; it's also about a fresh harvest of souls coming into the kingdom. Envision communities transformed by God's love and power, and ask Him to bring forth this spiritual fruit in abundance, testifying to His greatness.

Finally, pray for God's glory to be revealed above all else. Revival is not primarily about us or our comfort, but about God's name being honored and glorified on earth as it is in heaven. Ask Him to do a work so profound and undeniable that it can only be attributed to Him. Persist in prayer, believing that God hears and delights in answering the fervent cries of His children. Continue to seek His face, knowing that His timing is perfect and His power is limitless.
