John writes as an eyewitness: we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. This is not secondhand religion or pious speculation; John had seen Jesus with his own eyes, walked with Him, watched Him die and meet Him risen, and he stakes his testimony on it, the Father really did send the Son, and that Son is the Saviour of the world. The Christmas story is not a charming legend but an event witnessed and attested: God's Son came, and He came to save.
Notice the title: Saviour of the world. Not Saviour of the deserving, not Saviour of the religious, not Saviour of one nation only, but Saviour of the world. The scope is as wide as humanity's need. He was sent for the lost, the failing, the far-off, the unworthy, for a whole world that could not save itself. And He is Saviour, not merely teacher, example, or guide, but the One who actually rescues, who does for us what we cannot do for ourselves. The world did not need another sage to admire; it needed a Saviour to rescue it, and that is precisely what the Father sent.
Receive Christ today for what He came to be: not a distant religious figure, but your Saviour. The Father sent Him to save the world, and that world includes you.
Take Into The Day
Receive Jesus today specifically as your Saviour, not just a teacher to admire or a baby to sentimentalise, but the One sent to rescue you. Where you are trying to save yourself, stop, and let the Saviour of the world do for you what you cannot do for yourself.
Prayer
Father, You sent the Son as Saviour of the world, and that includes me. Thank You that He came not merely to teach but to rescue, to do for me what I could never do for myself. I receive Him today as my Saviour, and rest in the rescue only He can give. Amen.
