David makes a resolution of relentless gratitude: I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. The two phrases reinforce each other, "at all times" and "continually." This is not gratitude reserved for the good days, the answered prayers, the seasons of plenty; it is a settled determination to bless God always, in every season, with praise that never fully leaves the lips. And remarkably, David wrote this psalm at a low point in his life, when he was on the run and had to feign madness to escape danger. Even then: "I will bless the Lord at all times."

That little phrase "I will" is the heartbeat of the verse. Gratitude here is not merely a feeling that comes and goes with circumstances; it is a resolve, a deliberate, ongoing choice to keep blessing God whatever comes. Feelings ebb and flow, but the grateful heart sets its will: come what may, I will bless the Lord. Over time, such resolve shapes the feelings too, the praise that begins as a chosen discipline becomes the soul's natural habit, until thanksgiving is "continually in the mouth," as ready as breathing.

Make David's resolution your own today. Not "I will bless the Lord when things go well," but "I will bless the Lord at all times." Set your will to gratitude, and let His praise be continually in your mouth.

Lord, I resolve with David to bless You at all times, and to keep Your praise continually in my mouth. When my feelings ebb, hold my will firm in gratitude. Let praise become my settled habit, in every season, until it is as natural as breath. Amen.
