Here is a promise for everyone who has ever stood at a crossroads, unsure which way to turn: I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. God does not leave His children to find their own way in the dark. He pledges to instruct, to teach, to guide. The God who knows the end from the beginning, who sees every path and its destination, offers Himself as our personal guide through the decisions and uncertainties of life.
The phrase "I will guide you with My eye" is wonderfully intimate. It pictures the kind of guidance that passes between people who are close, a parent guiding a child with a look, a glance that says "this way," understood only by those paying attention to His face. It implies nearness; you cannot be guided by someone's eye unless you are keeping your eyes on them. God's guidance is promised not to those who consult Him occasionally and then look away, but to those who stay close enough to catch His look, who walk attentively with Him, watching His face.
Where do you need direction today? Stay near enough to be guided by His eye, and trust the promise: He will teach you the way you should go.
Take Into The Day
Bring a decision you are facing to God today, and rather than only asking for a sign, stay close to Him, in His Word, in prayer, in obedience, near enough to be "guided by His eye." Trust His promise to teach you the way.
Prayer
Lord, You promise to instruct me and guide me with Your eye in the way I should go. Where I stand uncertain today, keep me close enough to catch Your look. Forgive me for wandering off and then wondering why I feel lost. Guide me, as I keep my eyes on You. Amen.
