Isaiah speaks directly to the exhausted: "He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength." This is a promise not for the strong but for the depleted, those who have run dry, whose own resources are spent. And it makes a striking claim: even the young and vigorous "shall utterly fall," but a different kind of strength is available to those who do not rely on their own. The secret is in the waiting: "those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength."

To "wait on the Lord" is not passive idleness but active, trustful dependence, looking to God, leaning on Him, drawing our strength from His supply rather than our own. And the promise to those who do is layered and beautiful: they "mount up with wings like eagles" (rising above the trouble), "run and not be weary" (sustained energy for the long effort), "walk and not faint" (endurance for the daily grind). Soaring, running, walking, God has strength for every pace of life, given to those who wait on Him.

If you are weary today, the promise is for you. Stop drawing on your own empty reserves; wait on the Lord, and let Him renew your strength.

Take Into The Day

If you are running on empty today, stop trying to push through on your own depleted strength. Pause to "wait on the Lord", look to Him, lean on Him, draw from His supply, and receive the renewed strength He promises to the weary.

Prayer

Lord, You give power to the weak and strength to those who have no might. I am weary, and my own reserves are spent. Help me to wait on You and draw my strength from Yours. Renew me today, to soar, to run, to walk, and not faint. Amen.
