…and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith.

Paul names the great exchange at the heart of our identity. He wants to "be found in Him, not having my own righteousness", not standing before God in the threadbare rags of his own moral achievements, "but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God." This is righteousness as a gift, not a wage; a standing credited to us, not earned by us; the very righteousness of God Himself, given to all who trust His Son.
This frees us from the exhausting project of trying to make ourselves acceptable to God. Apart from Christ, our righteousness is "from the law", measured by performance, always falling short, never quite enough. But in Christ we are clothed in a righteousness "from God by faith," perfect and complete, not because we have achieved it but because we have received it. When God looks at the believer, He does not see our patchy record; He sees the spotless righteousness of His Son covering us.
You do not have to manufacture a righteousness to stand before God. In Christ, you already wear His. Stop sewing rags, and rest in the robe you have been given.
Take Into The Day
Stop trying to earn your acceptance before God today through performance. Each time you feel "not good enough," remember you wear a righteousness from God, received by faith. Rest in Christ's righteousness, not your own record.
Prayer
Father, I want to be found in Christ, not in my own threadbare righteousness, but in the perfect righteousness that is from You by faith. Thank You that I need not sew my own rags. I rest in the robe of Christ's righteousness that covers me. Amen.
