Ephesians 1:4
…just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.

Before the world was made, before you had done anything good or bad, before you could earn or forfeit anything, God chose you in Christ. Paul lifts our eyes to a staggering horizon, "before the foundation of the world", and tells us that our place in God's family was no afterthought, no accident, no last-minute decision. We were chosen, in love, before time began. Whatever else is uncertain, this is settled in eternity past.
There is a deep security here for the soul that feels unwanted or overlooked. So many carry the ache of having been a second choice, a disappointment, the one not picked. But to be in Christ is to be chosen by God Himself, deliberately, lovingly, eternally. Notice the purpose attached: "that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love." He did not choose us because we were holy; He chose us so that we might become holy. The choosing comes first, the transformation follows.
You are not an accident or an afterthought. You were chosen, in love, before the world began. Let that settle the question of whether you are wanted.
Take Into The Day
If you feel overlooked or unwanted today, anchor yourself in this: before the world was made, God chose you in Christ, in love. Let "chosen", not "second best", be the word that defines you today.
Prayer
Father, before the foundation of the world You chose me in Christ, in love. When I feel overlooked or unwanted, remind me that I was deliberately, eternally chosen by You. Thank You that I am wanted. Make me holy, as the One You chose. Amen.
