Two small words run through this entire month, and they are the foundation of everything: in Christ. Paul says it is "of Him", God's own doing, that "you are in Christ Jesus." Your whole new identity is not something you achieved or maintain by effort; it is a position God has placed you in. You are in Christ, as a branch is in the vine, as a letter is sealed in an envelope. And everything you now are flows from being there.

Look at what Christ becomes for those who are in Him: "wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption." Every spiritual need is met not in a thing God gives but in the Person we are joined to. We do not draw righteousness, holiness, and redemption from some separate supply; we have them because we have Him. This is why identity in Christ is so secure: it does not rest on our shifting performance but on our union with an unchanging Saviour.

Before you ask this month who you are, settle where you are: in Christ. Everything else grows from that ground.

Take Into The Day

Today, whenever you wonder about your worth or standing, answer with two words: "in Christ." Locate your identity there, not in your performance or others' opinions, but in your union with Him. Stand on that ground all day.

Prayer

Father, by Your doing I am in Christ Jesus, and in Him I have wisdom, righteousness, holiness, and redemption. Thank You that my identity rests not on what I achieve but on whom I am joined to. Root me deep in Christ today. Amen.
