Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.

This is an open invitation with an extraordinary promise attached. God says, simply, Call to Me, and He pledges two things in return: "I will answer you," and "I will show you great and mighty things, which you do not know." Prayer is not shouting into an empty sky. It is calling to a God who has promised to answer, and who holds knowledge and possibilities we cannot reach on our own.

Notice that last phrase: "things which you do not know." Prayer is not merely a way of asking God to bless the plans we have already made. It is a doorway into His perspective, a way of being shown what we could never have figured out for ourselves. So often we labour over problems with only our own limited knowledge, when the God who knows everything is saying, "Call to Me; let Me show you what you cannot see." Some of the great and mighty things God longs to reveal are reserved for those who ask.

Whatever puzzle or need you are carrying, take Him up on the invitation. Call to Him.

Bring to God today a problem you have been trying to solve on your own. Instead of relying only on what you know, call to Him and ask Him to show you the great and mighty things you do not know.

Prayer

Lord, You invite me to call to You, and You promise to answer and to show me things I do not know. Forgive me for labouring alone on what I should bring to You. I call to You now, show me what I cannot see. Amen.
