Matthew 24:35
Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

Jesus makes a claim that, on any honest reckoning, is staggering. He places His own words above the very heavens and the earth. The sky above you, the ground beneath you, the seemingly permanent frame of the whole created order, all of it, He says, will pass away. But My words will by no means pass away. He ranks His teaching as more enduring than the universe itself.
Either this is the overreach of a deluded man, or it is the sober truth of the Son of God. And history has been quietly proving Him right. Empires that mocked His words are dust; the languages of His critics are dead; and still, in ten thousand tongues, His words are read this very morning by people not yet born when He spoke. Heaven and earth are wearing out like a garment, as Scripture says elsewhere; His words have not aged a day.
Build your life, then, on what cannot pass away. The fashions and certainties of this world are on their way out. His words are not.
Take Into The Day
When you are tempted today to give more weight to a passing voice, a trend, an opinion, a fear, than to the words of Christ, remember which will outlast the other. Give the final word to the One whose words will never pass away.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, heaven and earth will pass away, but Your words never will. Forgive me for treating passing voices as more solid than Yours. Let me build my life on Your enduring words, and give them the final say in all things. Amen.
