Joshua stood at the threshold of the greatest assignment of his life, leading a nation into a land of giants and walled cities. He needed strategy, courage, resources. And God's first and central counsel to him was about a book: do not let it depart from your mouth; meditate in it day and night; do it. The secret of Joshua's success would not be his sword but his saturation in the Word.

This cuts against our instinct. When the stakes are high and the days are full, the quiet hour in Scripture is the first thing we sacrifice, telling ourselves we are too busy for it just now. God told the busiest man in Israel the opposite: the busier and more daunting the task, the more essential the Word. The promise attached is striking, "then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success", not as a magic formula, but because a life governed by God's Word walks in step with God's purposes.

Whatever you are facing, you are not too busy for the Book. You are too busy to neglect it.

Take Into The Day

Identify the biggest thing on your plate right now. Rather than letting it crowd out the Word, bring the Word to it, find a passage that speaks to your situation and let it govern how you act today.

Prayer

Lord, when life is full and the task is daunting, keep Your Word always near my mouth and my mind. Let it govern my decisions and steady my steps. I will not be too busy for You, for You are my true success. Amen.
