All Scripture Is God-Breathed
Matthew (Tolu) Olowoyeye
Founder · The Berean
2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

The phrase "given by inspiration of God" translates a single, vivid word: God-breathed. Scripture is not merely a record of people's best thoughts about God; it carries the very breath of God, as surely as the words you speak carry your breath. When you read the Bible rightly, you are not eavesdropping on ancient religion, you are receiving the breath of the living God.
And Paul tells us what that breath is for. It is profitable for four things: doctrine (it teaches us what is true), reproof (it tells us where we are wrong), correction (it shows us how to get right), and instruction in righteousness (it trains us how to live). Notice the arc, truth, then honest rebuke, then repair, then training. That is a complete education for the soul. Scripture does not merely inform the mind; it forms the life, so that, as the next verse says, we are "thoroughly equipped for every good work."
A book like that deserves more than a glance. It deserves a life shaped by it.
Take Into The Day
Let Scripture do all four works in you today, not just the comfortable two. Welcome not only its teaching and encouragement but its reproof and correction. Ask God where His Word is calling you to change.
Prayer
Father, thank You that Scripture carries Your very breath. Use it on me fully, to teach, to reprove, to correct, and to train me in righteousness. Equip me through Your Word for every good work You have prepared. Amen.
