Paul's instruction in is a powerful call to intentional, daily discipleship. If we profess to 'live by the Spirit', meaning our spiritual life originates from and is sustained by the Holy Spirit, then our conduct ought to reflect that reality. To 'keep in step with the Spirit' isn't about rigid legalism, but a dynamic, responsive walk. It implies a sensitive awareness to His leading, a willingness to yield our desires to His direction, and a readiness to align our actions and attitudes with His character. This daily partnership with the Spirit leads to a life characterized by love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, fruit that testifies to Christ's life within us.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, You are the source of our life. Help us to listen carefully to Your voice and to keep in step with Your leading in thought, word, and deed today. Amen.
