Pressing On Toward the Goal
Matthew (Tolu) Olowoyeye
Founder · The Berean
Philippians 3:13-14
Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Paul's words are a powerful reminder that the Christian life is a journey, not a destination we arrive at prematurely. He acknowledges past achievements and failures, yet intentionally chooses to 'forget what lies behind', not in denial, but in releasing their power over his present pursuit. His focus is singular: 'straining forward' towards the 'upward call' in Christ. This isn't about self-improvement as much as it is about conforming more and more to the image of Jesus. It calls us to sustained effort, to an ongoing commitment to growth, grounded in the ultimate prize of knowing and serving Christ more fully.
Prayer
Father, help us to release the past and fix our eyes on Christ. Empower us to press onward daily, pursuing Your upward call with unwavering focus and devotion.
