These verses, found in a book otherwise filled with sorrow, shine like a beacon of hope. Even in deep distress, the prophet Jeremiah declares God's steadfast character. We 'are not consumed,' not because of our own strength or merit, but because of the Lord's 'great love' and 'unfailing compassions.' The wonder is that His mercies are 'new every morning.' Each sunrise brings a fresh outpouring of His grace, new opportunities for repentance, trust, and renewed strength. This isn't just poetic language; it's a profound theological truth that assures us of God's relentless faithfulness, even when our circumstances seem bleak. His character remains our constant hope.

Prayer

Faithful God, thank You that Your compassions never fail and are new every morning. Help me to receive Your fresh mercies today and to trust in Your unfailing love.
