Matthew 5:13, 16
You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. ... In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Jesus' metaphors of salt and light convey profound responsibilities for His followers. As 'salt of the earth,' we are called to preserve, flavor, and purify the world around us, resisting decay and complacency. Our presence should make a noticeable difference in our communities and cultures. As 'light of the world,' we are to dispel spiritual darkness, not hide our faith, but intentionally live in a way that points others to God. Our 'good works' are not for self-promotion, but a demonstration of God's transformative power, ultimately leading others to 'give glory' to our heavenly Father. This is an active, public calling to influence the world for Him.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, empower me to be salt and light in my world today. May my life preserve truth and justice, shine Your goodness, and inspire others to glorify our Father in heaven, for Your name’s sake.
