In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus provides a radical reorientation of priorities. Instead of striving anxiously for material needs, food, drink, and clothing, He instructs us to 'seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.' This implies making God's reign and His standards of justice and holiness our primary pursuit. It's an invitation to trust God's providential care. When our focus is aligning with His purposes, allowing His will to shape our lives, then 'all these things', our genuine needs, will be 'added' to us. This isn't a magical formula for prosperity, but a promise that as we prioritize Him, He will faithfully attend to our well-being, both temporal and eternal.

Prayer

Father, forgive me for the times I prioritize worldly concerns over Your kingdom. Help me to seek You first today, to live righteously, and to trust that You will faithfully provide all that I truly need.
